The tabifolk Newsletter — December, 2025
Stories from the Road, Community Highlights, and What’s Next for Accessible Travel
Well, would you look at that? It’s already time for the final newsletter of 2025. Where did this year go?! Last time we spoke, I mentioned that I’d be probably way high in the sky, jetting off to Paris, before traveling onward to the UK for some much-needed family time.
I’m back in Brazil now, with a bang. Someone turned up the heat in our absence. It really is something when you travel from 3 degrees and snow on the ground to 36 degrees and 94% humidity. Talk about being tossed from the freezer to the frying pan!
I’m a bit discombobulated, to be honest. People keep asking, “How was your vacation?”, but I swear, aren’t vacations meant to be relaxing? We crammed so much into two and a half short weeks, and to be honest, I don’t think we ever did quite get on top of the jet lag because of it!
Still, we saw plenty of Paris, which is always a pleasure. It was a joy to be able to introduce our 6-year-old to some of the charms that the city has on full display, 24/7. She was most impressed by both the Eiffel Tower (because, who could ever fail to be impressed?!) and the Moulin Rouge windmill! But we also made sure to take her to the Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, and the Champs Élysées, as well.
I’ll be sharing much, much more about our adventures, our thoughts, and the challenging transportation problems we faced when trying to get around the place, in the coming weeks — in fact, I should have plenty more to share by the time the January newsletter drops — so keep your eyes peeled, if you’re interested!
For now, though, let’s crack on with this month’s tabifolk newsletter, shall we? I’ve elected to avoid all topics of Christmas, because, well… I think we all get a bit of Christmas fatigue around this time of year, don’t we? Or maybe that’s just me? The old Scrooge that I am!

RECENT DISCUSSIONS ON TABIFOLK:

Patty shared a joyful account of her first visit to Windsor, where she and her two Support Workers were thrilled to learn the King was in residence as they toured Windsor Castle. Although they didn’t glimpse royalty, they enjoyed chatting with friendly staff who shared anecdotes about the royal family’s Christmas traditions. Exploring Windsor’s festive markets, Patty described the locals as wonderfully chatty—something she happily matched—and highlighted two memorable meals: an unexpectedly “first-class” pizza dinner at Franco Manca and a generous high tea at Savill Garden, where the staff kindly packed up the leftovers for them.
