The tabifolk Newsletter — January, 2026
Illness, inclusion, and accessible adventures — from Blue Badges to sunny Spain!
Hello and welcome to the first tabifolk Newsletter of 2026. A belated happy New Year to you all.
I’ve had quite the time of it since we last sent you mail. I missed both Christmas and the New Year celebrations thanks to a pesky bout of pneumonia. Something I am reminded to watch out for and take care of when overdoing it during travel.
Thankfully, I’m out of the hospital — just in time to send the January edition of the tabifolk newsletter (though I am sure you will forgive me this time for keeping my introduction short?)
Perhaps instead, you could either reply to this email or open a conversation thread on tabifolk to share what your travel plans are for 2026? I’d love to know!

And finally, some trivia knowledge…
January takes its name from Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions — a fitting symbol for travel and new possibilities. Janus is often shown with two faces: one looking back and one looking forward, reminding us that every journey connects past and future experiences.
In the spirit of Janus, January invites travelers to open new doors — not just to new destinations, but to more inclusive, barrier-free ways of exploring the world. Whether that means choosing accessible lodging, planning routes with mobility in mind, or simply learning how to make travel more welcoming for everyone, January is the perfect time to begin.
